This combinations of Step Motors, Planetary Gears and Electro-magnetic Brakes are use in applications where very high torques are needed and at the same time it must be ensured during a power failure, that the Step Motor retains its position. For example, in the z-axis, for the protection of tools and workpieces, if the power fails.
Such combinations of Step Motor, Planetary Gear and electromagnetic Brake can hold a torque of up to 130 Nm and hold the application during a power failure in its position.
